Locked cell phoned only work with the company where you have a subscription. With unlocked phones, you can insert a sim card from any company.
Unlocked can also refer to the keypad of the phone. Some models don’t fold, so the keypad is exposed. This means that the numbers can get bumped easily, so you can lock the keypad to prevent this. You have to unlock it before you can use the phone again.
unlock means, your mobile phone’s outgoing call isn’t restricted.you can make call to your destination.you should read my mobile magazine for details of any new launched mobile phone.
The terms “locked” and “unlocked” usually refer to phones on a GSM network (Like Cingular or T-Mobile). An “Unlocked” phone is a phone that has been reprogrammed to except any SIM card, this will not help you though because Verizon uses a CDMA system which will not work with these types of phones. Since you are looking for a phone with loud ringing and a good speakerphone I highly recommend the site http://www.phonescoop.com This site can give you a detailed description on each phone Verizon offers currently (and on older models you won’t find in Verizon stores but Will find on places like EBay). The site also has individual forums for each phone so you would be able to ask specific questions on specific model phones.
