How do I convince my parents to allow me to buy a cellphone?
i am going to be 14 this week. And i have saved 145 $ myself I want to buy a prepaid cellphone, because my dad said no way he will buy me a cellphone because he said I don’t need it and he’ll not pay, however I am going to buy with my own money, should I tell him or just go ahead and buy it with no permission, and what should I tell him for him to allow me to get the cellphone?

I would try convincing him that your responsible enough to have a cell phone, I wouldn’t encourage doing something behind his back, he will find out and I won’t be good. By convincing him I mean show that your responsible. You never know, he may be planning to get you one for your birthday.
Just tell him about the benifits of having a cell phone like if you get lost, or if he needs to get a hold of you for some reason while your away from a phone. Now days EVERYONE has cell phones and it’s pretty much a necessity. Payphones are a dying breed and contact is a must and what better than a cell phone will provide that?
I think you should tell your parents that you are going to buy a cell phone. If they still don’t let you then ask them a couple of good reasons why you shouldn’t have a cell phone.
I would try to talk to them about you buying one by showing yo are responsible you saved 145 explai that is somrthig you want and the advantages i wou;dnt go behind their back
Don’t go behind Dad’s back you are a kid and he can take it away even if you pay for it. Talk to him and explain why you want it. Make up some rules for you to follow(times of operation, places not to use it, etc….). Know what the school rules about phone usage are. Show him your knowledge on that subject. Keep in mind, even prepay phones need monthly payments. How are you going to make those payments? these are all things that will show Dad you are ready. Good luck!!
